Description

Common name and scientific name

Australia Mint (Mentha × piperita)

Growth habit and size

A perennial herb produced from a creeping rhizome with an upright growth habit.

Foliage, flower color, and texture

Dark purplish-brown leaves are ovate with toothed leaf margin.

Produces small, mauve flowers arranged in whorl-like clusters at the stem nodes when mature.

Sunlight requirements

Thrives in full sun or partial shade area that receive at least 6 hours of sunlight daily.

Watering needs

Keep the soil evenly moist, water it regularly during a hot season.

Grow best in soil with excellent drainage with lots of organic matter.

The preferred pH range is between 6.0 – 7.5

Feeding and fertilizer needs

Feed with all-purpose organic fertilizer at least once a month to provide essential nutrients for healthy plant growth. It is also recommended to fertilize after harvesting the mint leaves to rejuvenate the plant.
